We operate a business taking people into nature to experience the peacefulness, beauty and amazing scenery of New Zealand. Paparoa Guided Walks recognises it is a privilege to operate in such a pristine natural environment and we work hard to ensure it remains that way.

Environment

Part of our annual concession fees go towards environmental monitoring/biodiversity projects run by the Department of Conservation (DOC).

We also educate our staff and customers on the importance of conservation and the effects which climate change are having on our National Parks. By using education as a tool for conservation, we believe we can inspire meaningful change.

Department of Conservation (DOC) Certified

We are licensed by DOC to conduct guided walks around the South Island , having met their high environmental and safety standards.

Zero Carbon Certified

Paparoa Guided Walks puts conservation at the forefront of business operations and to show this we have partnered with EKOS, a New Zealand company which allows businesses to calculate and offset 100% of the carbon emissions they produce.

Paparoa Guided Walks supports the local Kern Creek Forest conservation project which protects and is regenerating over 130 ha of mixed forest, with the goal for this to be a native forest and biodiversity haven.

Our commitment to an audited safety management plan significantly enhances the quality and safety of the guided hiking tours we offer. This rigorous approach ensures that all safety protocols are thoroughly reviewed and updated by independent experts, providing a robust framework that protects participants in various conditions and scenarios. With regular audits, the we can swiftly adapt to new safety standards and emerging risks, ensuring that both guides and hikers are well-prepared for any situation. This proactive stance not only fosters a secure and reliable environment but also instills confidence in guests, knowing that your safety is continuously monitored and prioritized throughout your adventure.

Group size

All of our trips are run with a smaller number of guests than most conventional guiding outfits. We believe that these small group sizes leading to enhanced personalisation, improved safety and a great guest experience, shown by our 5 star reviews.

Our maximum allowable group size is 5 people, with a minimum of two. We also have the ability to book out private trips. Contact us with your requests and we will customise a solution for you.
